The Texas University Report Card was created to improve college success for Texas students by spotlighting what works—and calling out what doesn’t. It highlights the best practices universities are using to effectively support first-generation, low-income (FGLI) students, while also challenging institutions that fall short in helping these students thrive.
While college readiness begins in our K–12 system, once a university admits an FGLI student, accepts their grant dollars, and offers them loans, it has a responsibility to help them succeed. Enrollment should come with a commitment, not just to access, but to graduation and a career-ready future.
