January 2016, ScholarShot off to Record Year of Scholars and Graduates
ScholarShot announced with support of the greater Dallas philanthropic and corporate community it will grow its budget and program in 2016 planning to add 30-40 new scholars. This will put its total scholar population over 100 students earning career ready degrees.

July 2015, ScholarShot moves into Meadows Foundation Wilson District, Adds Scholars and Degrees
Thanks to the Meadows Foundation, ScholarShot joined 29 other growing non-profits in the historic Wilson District on Swiss Avenue. Meanwhile, our great scholars continue to graduate. ScholarShot also added 25 great new scholars to our program who will start their college pursuits in August 2015.
May 2015, ScholarShot expands its Corporate relationships with GrowSouth, launches DegreeDallas
ScholarShot launched its new initiative, DegreeDallas, to produce 500 first generation degrees for at-risk students from Dallas County. GrowSouth commits $250,000 to support this effort. Read more here.
February 2015, ScholarShot Announces New Strategic Collaboration with TREC
ScholarShot continues to build its strategic relationships with the Dallas Business Community. The Real Estate Council recognized its 25th Anniversary committing $25,000 per year from the TREC Foundation to support ScholarShot scholars in collaboration with the Mayor’s Summer Interns. ScholarShot will apply these funds toward TREC interns pursuing college degrees.

September, 2014 ScholarShot Raises Record Amount on North Texas Giving Day
Thanks to our generous supporters, ScholarShot raised a record for its efforts on North Texas Giving Day resulting in over $58,000. Many thanks.
June 25, 2014 – ScholarShot Enrolls 15 New Scholars, Degrees Continue
ScholarShot has awarded 15 new students scholarships to complete vocational and college degrees. This brings our student population to 51. ScholarShot Scholars continue on their degree plans with a 90% success rate compared to the state’s average of less than 15%.
May 10, 2014 – ScholarShot Scholars Continue Achieving Degrees
Congratulations to Estefania, a graduate of Texas A&M with a degree in Human Resources and a minor in Business Administration. Estefania accepted full-time employment after a semester internship with Austin Commercial in Dallas. Congratulations on this life transforming success!
February 10, 2014 – ScholarShot Opens Downtown Dallas Office
ScholarShot has extended its partnership with Abilene Christian University (ACU) Dallas opening an office at ACU’s 511 N. Akard Street facility in downtown Dallas. This office will serve as ScholarShot’s primary location while providing convenient conference and classroom space for ScholarShot Scholars.
January 15, 2014 – ScholarShot Receives Grant from Trevor Rees-Jones Foundation
ScholarShot received its third grant from the Trevor Rees-Jones Foundation in the amount of $25,000. Funds will be used for scholarships to support ScholarShot Scholars completing vocational and college degrees.
December 30, 2013 – ScholarShot Completes Successful Direct Mail Campaign
Thanks to its generous donors, ScholarShot’s annual direct mail campaign raised more than $88,000 this year. Funds will be used to fund vocational and college scholarships for at-risk students and program growth.
December 15, 2013 – ScholarShot Receives Grant from the Esping Family Foundation
Thanks to the Esping Family Foundation for its generous grant of $16,000. Funds will be used for scholarships for students completing vocational and college degrees.
October 2, 2013 – ScholarShot Participates in 1st North Texas Giving Day
ScholarShot raised more than $62,000 on North Texas Giving Day sponsored by the Communities Foundation of Texas. Although this was ScholarShot’s first time to participate, thanks to generous donor support, ScholarShot was in the top 10% of beneficiaries.
September 1, 2012 – ScholarShot Receives Grant from Lupe Murchison Foundation
Thanks to the Lupe Murchison Foundation for its generous grant of $17,500. Funds will be used to help students completing vocational and college degrees.
August 15, 2013 – ScholarShot Awards 10 New Scholarships
ScholarShot awarded 10 students from Dallas and Irving Independent School Districts with college scholarships. Students will enroll in community colleges and four-year universities in the fall of 2013. This brings the total student population of ScholarShot to 34.
July 29, 2013 – ScholarShot, ACU Dallas and CitySquare Partnership Announced
ScholarShot is pleased to announce a joint partnership with Abilene Christian University (ACU) Dallas and CitySquare to provide dormitory-like housing for ScholarShot Scholars. CitySquare will provide housing to ScholarShot Scholars at a reduced rate thanks to a special grant. ScholarShot Scholars will benefit from collaboration with ACU honor students who reside at the same complex.
April 21, 2013 – Harold Simmons Foundation Matching Grant
Thanks to Harold Simmons Foundation for a matching grant of $20,000. This is our second grant from the Harold Simmons Foundation. Funds will be used for staff growth.
December 15, 2012 – ScholarShot Completes Successful Mailer Campaign
Backed by a matching grant, ScholarShot’s annual direct mail campaign successfully raised more than $60,000 from individuals, corporations and foundations.
August 15, 2012 – ScholarShot Adds 12 New Scholars
ScholarShot is pleased to announce 12 new scholarship awards to DISD students. These students will enroll two- and four-year colleges starting in the fall of 2012. Students selected their degree plans based on their academic strengths and interests with guidance from ScholarShot. ScholarShot Scholars are eligible to receive up to $6,000 per year.
